Introduce the role of low-voltage control cabinets in the chemical industry

Motor control and protection

In chemical production, there are a large number of motor-driven equipment, such as pumps, compressors, mixers, etc. Low-voltage control cabinets can accurately control the start, stop, forward and reverse rotation and speed regulation of these motors. For example, through the application of soft starters or frequency converters in low-voltage control cabinets, soft start and frequency conversion speed regulation of motors can be achieved.

At the same time, low-voltage control cabinets can provide motors with protection functions such as overload, short circuit, undervoltage, and overvoltage. When abnormal current or voltage occurs in the motor, the protection devices in the control cabinet (such as thermal relays, circuit breakers, etc.) will act quickly to cut off the circuit to prevent motor damage, thereby ensuring the safe operation of chemical production equipment.

Process automation control

The chemical production process involves complex process flows, which require precise control of parameters such as temperature, pressure, flow, and liquid level. The low-voltage control cabinet can receive signals from various sensors (such as temperature sensors, pressure sensors, flow sensors, etc.) and control actuators (such as regulating valves, solenoid valves, etc.) according to pre-set control strategies.

For example, in a chemical reactor, the heating or cooling device is controlled by a low-voltage control cabinet to maintain the reaction temperature within the set range. When the temperature sensor detects that the temperature is higher than the set value, the control cabinet will issue a command to adjust the flow of the cooling medium to reduce the reaction temperature.

Power distribution and energy management

Chemical enterprises usually have a complex distribution of electrical equipment, and the low-voltage control cabinet plays a role in the reasonable distribution of electrical energy. It can distribute the low-voltage power supply from the transformer to different production areas, workshops or equipment groups to ensure that each device can obtain a suitable power supply.

At the same time, the low-voltage control cabinet can also realize energy management functions. By installing equipment such as smart meters, it can monitor the power consumption of each branch and provide data support for energy conservation and consumption reduction of chemical enterprises. For example, by analyzing the power consumption data in different time periods, enterprises can optimize production plans, avoid peak power consumption, and reduce production costs.

Safety interlock control

Chemical production is dangerous, and many operations need to follow strict safety regulations. The low-voltage control cabinet can realize safety interlock control to ensure that the equipment can only operate when certain safety conditions are met.

For example, in a chemical storage tank area, when the liquid level reaches the high level alarm value, the low-pressure control cabinet will control the feed pump to stop feeding and open the overflow protection device at the same time; and when carrying out certain hazardous chemicals, the control cabinet will only allow the delivery pump to start when all valves on the delivery pipeline are in the correct open or closed state and the relevant safety equipment (such as gas detection alarm, etc.) is working normally.

System integration and remote monitoring

The low-pressure control cabinet is an important part of the chemical automation system. It can be integrated with other automation equipment (such as PLC, DCS, industrial computer, etc.) to realize the automation control of the entire chemical production system.

In addition, through the communication interface (such as Ethernet, RS-485, etc.), the low-pressure control cabinet can realize remote monitoring. Operators can view the operating status, parameter settings and fault alarm information of the equipment remotely in the central control room or through mobile devices, which is convenient for timely fault diagnosis and processing, and improves the management efficiency of chemical production.
